Our Story - Gobi Grace

In the heart of Central Asia lies Mongolia — a land of open steppe, dramatic landscapes, and one of the last truly nomadic cultures on earth. Winters here are not simply cold; they fall to -50°C. The animals that live through them — the two-humped Bactrian camel, the yak — grow dense, fine coats built for exactly that cold.

Each spring, as the weather turns, the camels begin to shed. For a brief window, the nomadic herders of the Gobi Desert gather the wool by hand — combed, never sheared — a tradition passed down for generations. From there, every step stays in Mongolia. The wool is cleaned, sorted, and worked by local artisans who understand it better than anyone. Nearly a third of the raw fiber is lost in the process, leaving only the finest behind.

Our family's part in this began in 2007, when my mother, Odonchimeg, founded a brand called Mcashmere — bringing camel wool clothing to life with patience and care. As an American-educated son, I long dreamed of introducing these Mongolian treasures to North America. Life took me down other paths, but the dream never faded. When my mother chose to pass the torch, it came with both a responsibility — to honor her legacy — and a privilege: to carry it forward as Gobi Grace.

Every piece we make is more than apparel. It's a thread between cultures, and a small act of kindness — your purchase brings you the comfort and craft of Mongolian wool while supporting the nomadic families who tend their herds under the vast skies of the Gobi, and strengthening the region's economy.

This is more than fashion. It's the soul of the Gobi, woven into every thread. This is Gobi Grace.
